MAG COVERS: TRAVIS McCOY COVERS HONEYMAG

Gym Class Heroes front man Travis McCoy covers the new issue of Honey Magazine

At some point, dudes with decks started trumping guys with pecks. For us Honey chicks, the lanky, loose-lobed skater with a tapestry of tatts earns more cool points than the retardedly-ripped, Gatorade-guzzling athlete (So not mad at you, though, TO). I mean, come on — isn’t a trip to the skate park way more exciting than getting lost in a gang of groupies at All-Star weekend?

Exactly. That’s how 28-year-old Travie McCoy, the gorgeously-etched frontman of hip-pop collective, Gym Class Heroes managed to kickflip his way into our hearts. You gotta love a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve (better yet, his throat) and his idols on his hands (Hall is tatted on his left and Oates on his right). And yeah, he has a habit of making goofy faces but we know it’s only to mask his sexy.

We supported him through his blog-bled battle with addiction, cringed through his overly publicized breakup with Katy Perry, and cheered when he jumped a racist prick at one of his shows. And now that he’s venturing into solo territory with Lazarus (Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen Records) on June 8th, he’s even more fun to listen to than look at. We’re crazy amped to experience his menage of reggae, punk-pop, and R&B. Verdict: We’d hit the nearest skate ramp and grind on Travie’s rail any day.
