Elle like you’ve never seen her before…
Just last week, Michelle Obama was caught on tape
singing the praises of singer Elle Varner and now she’s gracing the
pages of the premiere issue of SFPL, created by Rae and Gabe of Stuff Fly People Like.
Inside, she shows off her playful personality while giving a little sex
kitten tease in a red sexy dress and colorful prints. She also toys
with her alter ego in the multi-page spread.
In the accompanying interview, she dishes
on how it felt to hear Michelle Obama mention her name as an artist the
First Family adores, her dream collaboration and how she feels about
the current state of R&B:

On Michelle Obama singing her praises
I could not believe it….I thought at first it was just a rumor but then I
watched and it was definitely real. I was shocked but also very proud
that the White House approves my music for their precious daughters to
listen to…. That I made an album that simply told my story, and that it could be appreciated by both a 14 year old girl and that girl’s Mother….I was chilling at home when a friend called me and I was screaming lol.
On Her Dream Collaboration
My dream collaboration at the moment would have to be with Frank Ocean
or Luke James… I want to make a classic R&B collab like Marvin and
Tammi Terrell. On a hip hop note, Drake on a song would be hot too!
On the current state of R&B
I think Rhythm and Blues is missing the “Blues.” That emotional
hits-you-in-your-chest feeling that it was built on. The rhythms are
there but the quality and content just aren’t what they used to be.
Luckily there are a lot of artists right now not only making great
R&B, but getting some mainstream shine as well. I plan
to take my music to a worldwide level so R&B isn’t the one trying
to squeeze into the picture but actually standing proud in the center of
the photo.
