Money member Dawn
Richard doesn’t need a major label deal to validate her existence in
the game. She’s doing it all on her own and getting major
support along the way. She recently caught up with the folks at
Vibe Vixen for a photo shoot and brought a little edge to the set in Alexander McQueen cut out
leggings, Marc Jacob sneakers and bright white lipstick.
During her brief chat with the online mag, she paid homage to Brandy while brushing off comparisons to Rihanna.
On how she wants her voice to be remembered
I want to be reminiscent of Brandy. She will always be the vocal Bible to me; I’ll be the misfit of music, the rebel of music.
On being compared to Rihanna
Rihanna is Rihanna. I want the music and
the style to be daring in itself. I’m pushing androgyny with the
patterns and the presence of armor. It’s not too exaggerated, that’s
what the sound is. There’s a presence of strength [in the image and
music].
