Monica and B.O.B. devoted their Independence Day to U.S. soldiers by giving a free concert to help boost morale. Pop the hood for details
Rapper B.o.B and R&B singer MONICA paid tribute to U.S. soldiers on Sunday when they played a free concert at a New York army base to help celebrate American Independence Day.
The show, organized by editors at The Source magazine, was aimed at boosting the morale of troops based in the Fort Hamilton area of Brooklyn.
Soldiers and their families were treated to a holiday barbecue before being introduced to the stars for a special meet-and-greet.
Monica was proud to perform for the armed forces and personally thanked the soldiers for dedicating their lives to fighting for her country’s freedom.
Speaking at the event, she said:
“Part of being here today was just to bring some love and happiness into their lives. Our country is still fighting every single day, and us at home, we don’t think about it as much as their families do when they’re here on the base and they’re watching them come and go everyday. So for me, I just wanted to come bring some fun, some laughter and not to even have to think about the reality of the state of the world, because they face that for us each and everyday. These are courageous people and I’m just here to make sure they have a good time.
“I would like to tell them to stay encouraged, know that God is able and they’re fighting for a country that loves and believes in them no matter what they read or hear.”
Props to them for taking the time out to thank the troops!
