Nicki Minaj and Will.I. Am perform an ode to Japanese Anime for their new video “Check It Out”. The two performed the track (which leaked a few weeks ago) for the first time at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Terri McMillan & Her Ex-Husband Re-Visit The Oprah Winfrey Show
Terri McMillan, author of the best-selling book “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” returned to Oprah today with her ex-husband Jonathan. For those unfamiliar with the story, Terry met Jonathan (who is 23 years younger) in 1995 while on vacation in Jamaica and moved him into her multi-million dollar home in Cali three months later. Three years later they married and after six years of marriage, Jonathan revealed to Terry that he was gay.
The couple then filed for divorce and Jonathan sued Terry for spousal support and attorney fees and ended up winning. Imagine that. Terry later slapped him with a $40 million lawsuit for emotional distress and ruining her reputation. She later withdrew the suit because she wanted to “let go”. On Today’s show she said of the suit, “After awhile, the anger..you own it and there is no room to let in beauty or love or any goodness. When I started realizing that had happen to me, I surrendered.”
It’s absolutely hard for me to believe that Terry McMillan never suspected that Jonathan was gay. I mean even Stevie Wonder could see that. According to Jonathan, he wasn’t completely honest about his sexuality because it wasn’t acceptable in his culture.
I came from a culture [where] you suppress your feelings and you’re not open to seeing different orientations, different sexualities,” he says. “Now I’m embracing my sexual honesty, my truth.
During the appearance on Today’s show, the two revealed that they are now “friends” again and Terry is releasing a new book titled “Getting To Happy”.

Oprah, please, please tell the other side to this story and other stories like it. I am also a man who got married and actually had children before I had the resources and courage to live my authentic self as a gay person. Yes, as a very young man Jonathan was swept away by the “ideal” of marriage and the religious argument against homosexuality (not to mention Terry’s wealth and influence), but can’t we please celebrate the fact that he had the courage and strength to break out of the double life and to truly be himself. I say hooray to Jonathan and many other men like he and myself.
Wait! Are we suppose to applaud these men for coming out after being deceptive and living double lives? I’m glad he finally came out but what about the women that are left to deal with these type of situations? I’m sure it’s devastating and embarrassing for all parties involved.

Destiny’s Child may have allowed Kelly the privilege to have the phrase “over 50 million albums sold” follow after her name but it surely didn’t tell her how to keep a man.Complex: Has being in Europe so much changed your taste in men?
Kelly Rowland: Oh no, honey. For me, it’s just about a very confident guy and someone who I can have fun with.
Complex: How confident? Does it matter who’s dominant in the relationship?
Kelly Rowland: No. As a matter of fact, because I am so dominant and I am a control freak, I would go out on dates, order, pull out my own chair, and I would never see that guy again. [Laughs.]
Complex: Damn, they were that intimidated?
Kelly Rowland: I don’t even think it’s intimidating. I had a problem with letting a guy be a man. I don’t have that problem anymore. I think it’s incredibly sexy when a man is just a man. From his walk to the way he talks and the way he carries himself. It’s not even swag—that word is so old—it’s just about having that…thang. It’s got to be so right. They are so cute when they have a smile and that makes it even sexier to me. A smile is everything.

As I watched Braylon Edwards’ post-game interview after the New York Jets beat the Miami Dolphins last night, I was thinking “Damn, he’s fine!” I mean his lips are so perfectly shaped it doesn’t even make sense and I’m oh so glad he cut off that damn beard. Quit fighting the cute, man! Oh and his skin? * swoon *
But Braylon comes with a few things. He had some baby mama drama with America’s Next Top Model runner-up Nik Pace earlier this year and just last week the tall, dark and handsome NFL player got arrested for a DUI. Hmmm. There’s no denying that he’s fine and good at his well-paying job to boot, but if you met Braylon somewhere and you hit it off, would you pursue it, knowing what you know? Is he worth the seemingly automatic drama?
His situation made me think more about those “everything, but” type of guys. You know, the men who seem to have everything a well-rounded 21st century woman could want except for one or two things. Maybe it’s that he smokes a blunt after work every day. Maybe it’s that he hasn’t quite gotten that bachelor’s degree yet even though he started 10 years ago or maybe he ‘s a guy who treats you very well, but doesn’t like titles.
Whatever “it” is, it doesn’t make your list of attractive qualities, but you’re not so sure that it knocks him out of contention as the man you’ll grow old with. I’ve had plenty of “everything, but” guys and the funny thing is it was never the “but,” that ended things. Something else always seemed to show up.

Naturi Naughton Set To ‘Integrate’ The Next Episode Of AMC’s “Mad Men”
Naturi Naughton is one courageous entertainer — first she braved being the only chocolate girl in color-struck girl group 3LW, then she bared it all playing Lil Kim in Notorious, then she took on a role in a (how dare they) re-make of Fame. This time she is guest starring in one of television’s most popular (and white) shows “Mad Men”!
We gotta give it to you girl, that’s a great look! Especially since Naturi won’t be playing a maid or an elevator operator.
We’ve watched more than a few eps of “Mad Men” and can count the number of black people we’ve seen on the show on one hand — the Draper’s (now Harrises) housekeeper Carla, the elevator operator Hollis and Paul’s girlfriend Sharon — who disappeared after dumping him at a Civil Rights march.
Granted, the show is currently set in the ’60′s at an advertising firm. Not the most integrated of societies! Especially back then.

Life & Style’s Scene Queens say they spotted Sammi and her friends outside of the event when Diddy pulled up to the curb and reportedly called out to Sammi, “I love Jersey Shore. I’ve been thinking about you.”
The Scene Queens say that Sammi ignored him, but Diddy didn’t give up. “He knew one of the girls Sammi was with,” a friend of Sammi’s told Scene Queens. “He was texting her friend, begging for Sammi’s number.”
Lyfe Jennings Headed To Lockup, Singer Sentenced To Three And A Half Years Behind Bars
Lyfe faced an Atlanta judge today and was sentenced to three and a half years jailtime as a result of that fateful confrontation with his ex-girlfriend. He was charged with DUI test refusal, criminal trespassing, discharging a weapon near a street, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and fleeing or attempting to elude a police offer.
Yesterday Jennings asked his Twitter fans to pray for him before posting his final goodbye late last night.

Kanye West is on a roll. He’s giving his fans new music every single Friday, took over Twitter and Facebook’s corporate offices and all in the same breath tells SNL (Saturday Night Live) to KISS HIS A**HOLE in his jawn “POWER”!!! Instead of SNL creating a skit that would mimic the MC, they have decided to extend an invitation to Kanye asking him to appear as a musical guest on Octber 2nd…

Well, this could be interesting: EW has confirmed that rapper Kanye West will return to SNL on Oct. 2. (West will serve as musical guest; Bryan Cranston will be the host.)
Funny that West agreed to make an appearance on the show he so blatantly dissed (“F— SNL and the whole cast”) in his song “Power.” (The variety show poked fun at the rapper after his memorable interruption at the 2009 Video Music Awards — West wasn’t too happy about it. Hence the choice language in the song.)
I can only imagine the possible shenanigans of mixing West with live TV. That said, do you think he’ll be down with whatever SNL throws his way? Or will he provide us with the next “Kanye said WHAT?” post on EW.com?
