The trial of HIV positive German pop star Nadja Benaissa was set to start today in the district court house. Benaissa, a singer from the German girl band No Angels, has admitted to having unprotected sex with several partners without warning them that she was HIV-positive.
Ms. Benaissa faces a charge of grevious bodily harm for allegedly infecting one man and has also been charged with attempted bodily harm for allegedly having sex with two other men who did not contract the infection. If she is convicted, the singer, who shot to fame in Europe in 2000 after winning the German version of “Popstars”, faces a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
